USAV SafeSport Initiative Receives Major Grant

March 01, 2014

The USA Volleyball Foundation is proud to announce its support of USA Volleyball’s SafeSport initiative! In 2014, the Foundation is making a grant to SafeSport to support its mission of promoting safety for all participants.

“USA Volleyball is very appreciative of the support from the Foundation for the SafeSport Program.  This will enable us to bring in key staff and regional representatives for training,” said Margie Mara, Senior Director of USA Volleyball. “We are excited about the possibility of utilizing the resources of the USOC Make the Commitment Program.” She also added, “Getting educational materials out to the regions and clubs for parents, coaches and athletes is one of our highest priorities in 2014.”

SafeSport helps raise awareness about misconduct in sport, promote open dialogue, and provide training and resources. USA Volleyball is committed to creating safe and fun environments for youth. This includes, but is not limited to, providing educational materials and resources for USAV’s regions, clubs, coaches, parents and athletes.

“The USA Volleyball SafeSport initiative is exactly the kind of program that we seek to support in order to fulfill the Foundation’s mission,” said Al Monaco, who serves as Chair of USA Volleyball Foundation’s Board of Directors. “We are proud to be able to support USA Volleyball in this manner.”

Grants like these are made possible as a result of charitable gifts made to the Foundation by many generous donors. We look forward to continuing these efforts with your support!
